Yoga for Gardeners on the Farm!

with Artemis Yoga guest instructor Cathleen O'Connell

Saturday, May 22 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

$15 per participant

Calling all green thumbs! Are you looking forward to the summer’s bounty? Is your body ready for it? This class is open to all gardeners, and no yoga experience is necessary. Join us for a gentle yoga practice that will focus on the areas of the body that get a “workout” while gardening. The class will include:

• warm-ups to get your body ready for the physical work of gardening
• how to bend forward without straining your back
• shoulder and wrist stretches
• leg lengtheners, and hip and knee mobility

You will “reap the harvest” of your yoga practice with a relaxing cooldown. Participants will leave class with poses they can do on their own to keep their bodies comfortable and open during the physical activity of gardening. Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Yoga mats are provided.

MORE ABOUT CATHLEEN... Cathleen O’Connell (RYT-500) has been teaching yoga since 2010.  Cathleen will be leading the Yoga for Gardeners program offered by Artemis Yoga. She enjoys teaching students of all levels, offering variations to make the poses available to everyone in class. Constantly inspired by both her teachers and her students, she is always exploring new ways to invite alignment, openness and curiosity into the practice. A former competitive runner, she tried yoga 3 times before it finally "stuck" and has been practicing for over a dozen years. Cathleen completed both her 200 YogaWorks Training and 300 Down Under Training under the wise instruction of Natasha Rizopoulos and continues to be influenced and inspired by the teachings of Barbara Benagh and Doug Keller. She has done additional certifications with Yoga Warriors (designed to help Veterans with PTSD) and Yoga For All (Creating Body Positive Yoga Classes for All Shapes, Sizes and Abilities.) A documentary filmmaker, and was an active member of the Waltham Community Garden for many years. Her favorite pose is Half-Moon and thinks the best, most therapeutic (and sometimes hardest) yoga pose is a smile.
