2021 Summer in the Learning Garden
Summer in the Learning Garden is Filled to Capacity!
Please see the WFCF Calendar of Events HERE for afternoon class and workshop announcements for youth and families.
We hope to see you on the farm this summer!
A weekly drop-off program for school-age youth (1st through 8th grade).
Weekly Sessions Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
$260 per week (scholarship tickets available)
This small-group, socially-distanced, shortened summer program may not look like it has in past summers, due to current restrictions and COVID-19 Safety Guidelines, but we look forward to spending time outdoors on the farm together with our community of learners! Youth will be immersed in this working farm and will interact with hens & eggs, garden & grow their own food, bring fresh produce home that they grew themselves, learn about fiber producing rabbits, insects, plants, trees, soil health and SO MUCH MORE! Summer programs incorporate socially distanced games, farm walks, stories, projects, science experiments, music and movement. Summer sessions will include harvesting in our Learning Garden, and youth participants will bring home produce for snacking and sharing, with recipes for some of our favorite Learning Garden snacks.
Sessions are 3 hours long, held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Space is limited to 12-15 registrants per session to assure we remain under the outdoor gathering limit and to manage social distancing.
Youth will not be permitted to eat or snack together as a group; however, we will provide a designated area where youth can go for water breaks, and to snack if needed.
Please do not send food with your child, unless a health or behavioral condition requires it. Please contact Director of Education Jessica Herwick before sending food to any on-site program with your child, as there are restrictions due to extreme nut sensitivities among some participants.
